Belmont's Curse Endings: 3 Outcomes and the Absolution Route
Spoiler-light premise
KONAMI places the story in 1499 Paris, 23 years after Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse. Trevor and his daughter Rose answer the city’s call for help as monsters emerge and Dracula’s Castle appears. Rose is the playable Belmont; this setup leads into the events below.
Full story and ending spoilers
The main route reveals that Death uses a clock trap to delay Rose while Trevor’s blood helps restore Dracula’s power. Rose escapes the false ending and continues toward the real Dracula fight. The ending depends on whether she completes the Gallery of the Four Virtues and obtains Absolution before the final battle.
Full ending spoilers below. The table lists Death’s trap, Dracula’s normal defeat, and the Absolution route to Curse Lifted.
| Ending | Trigger | Outcome |
|---|---|---|
| Belmont’s Fall | Activate the Clock Tower Bridge clock without Soul Harvest. | Death traps Rose; Resume lets the same save continue. |
| The Hunt Goes On | Defeat Dracula without Absolution equipped when his winged form falls. | The curse remains; the same save can continue. |
| Curse Lifted | Complete the four virtue trials, defeat Rose’s shadow for Absolution, equip it, then defeat Dracula. | Rose breaks the curse. |
What are the three endings?
Belmont’s Fall: the trap ending
Trigger: Activate the glowing Clock Tower Bridge clock without Soul Harvest.
Result: Death sends Rose into a false throne room and traps her while Trevor’s blood restores Dracula. The credits roll, but this is not a game over.
The Hunt Goes On: the normal ending
Trigger: Defeat the real Dracula without Absolution equipped when his winged form falls.
Result: Rose and Trevor look over Paris beneath a red sky, and the curse remains.
Curse Lifted: the true ending
Trigger: Complete the four virtue trials in Notre-Dame’s Gallery of the Four Virtues, defeat Rose’s shadow at the altar to earn The Self and Absolution, equip Absolution, then defeat Dracula.
Result: Rose breaks the curse and the darkened city gives way to a restored Paris. AllThingsHow and Tpose Gaming both distinguish this route from the normal ending.
Can I continue after the other endings?
Yes. After Belmont’s Fall, choose Resume from the Mirror of Life. After The Hunt Goes On, continue the same save, complete the virtue trials, and return to Dracula with Absolution equipped. Neither outcome deletes the run.
